Opening Hours, ToGo, and Reservations at Hohe Tanne Auerbach

In terms of opening hours, the Hohe Tanne Auerbach presents a clear and easily planable model for guests. Mondays are a rest day, from Tuesday to Saturday the tavern is open for lunch and dinner, and on Sundays and public holidays, there are continuous opening hours until the evening. The homepage also lists specific Sundays and public holidays when it is open; this signals that the location consciously aligns its visits with the needs of weekend guests, excursion tours, and families. This is important for the gastronomy sector, as many guests target the Hohe Tanne not only as a stop after a hike but also specifically for lunch or Sunday coffee. This is complemented by a ToGo offer: dishes from the menu can be pre-ordered and picked up, making the place attractive for locals who want to enjoy fresh cuisine without a long stay. The phone number is central, as both takeout orders and room inquiries are directed through contact with the house according to the website. The reservation page also indicates that room bookings can be made by phone, by email, and through Booking.com; it is also recommended to briefly contact the restaurant for special requests. This shows a personal, service-oriented structure, where direct contact is prioritized over an anonymous booking machine. For search queries like "opening hours", "phone number", "prices", or "reservations", this is relevant because the Hohe Tanne Auerbach does not just offer a menu but a straightforward, guest-friendly overall experience. ([hohetanne-auerbach.de](https://www.hohetanne-auerbach.de/))

The specific contact structure also underscores this approach. The address Hohe Tanne 1 in 91275 Auerbach in the Upper Palatinate is clearly stated, as are the phone, fax, and email. So, anyone who wants to not only drop by spontaneously but also specifically inquire about a table, a celebration, or a room will find all the necessary information in one central place. This is a plus point, especially for longer stays or family celebrations, as guests do not have to search long but can speak directly with the Schertl family and the team. In conjunction with the opening hours, this creates a very practical usage picture: a reliable lunch and dinner operation during the week, a stronger focus on day guests and excursionists on weekends, and an easy way to pre-order meals. This makes the Hohe Tanne Auerbach interesting for people who plan consciously, but also for everyone who wants to remain flexible while on the go. Directions, Parking, and Map: How to Reach Hohe Tanne Auerbach

The directions to Hohe Tanne Auerbach are explained on the website in a way that guests from different directions can quickly find the location. Those coming from the A9 towards Nuremberg or Bayreuth exit at Pegnitz Auerbach Grafenwöhr and switch to the B85 towards Amberg. From there, it continues over a large intersection towards Neuhaus, before turning left shortly before the forest. From the direction of Amberg or Sulzbach, the B85 also leads to Auerbach, with a turn at the large intersection. Those coming from Neuhaus or the surrounding area drive towards Auerbach and turn directly after a wooded area at the signposted entrance Hohe Tanne. This is particularly helpful for search terms like "map", "directions", and "hohe tanne 1 auerbach", as the location is not in the middle of the dense town center but rather in the landscape-dominated outskirts. Thus, the address has the character of a mix between a stopover, forest inn, and quiet excursion destination. This character is also emphasized by the self-presentation on the website: a place to stop, arrive, and breathe. Additionally, the parking question is clearly answered: there are plenty of parking spaces directly in front of the house, and there are also sufficient parking options for motorcycles, bicycles, and e-bikes. This makes the location practical not only by car but also suitable for two-wheeled tours and cycling trips. Especially in a region with many excursion destinations, this is an important advantage, as guests can arrive without searching for parking. ([hohetanne-auerbach.de](https://www.hohetanne-auerbach.de/61.html))

The location itself is also part of the experience. The Hohe Tanne Auerbach is situated in a nature-friendly environment that almost connects the journey with an excursion. The website refers to a map excerpt, emphasizing that the position is intentionally presented as a clearly identifiable point. Those searching for "map" or "parking lot" usually do not want to research for long but want to know immediately if the location is accessible and if the journey is worthwhile. Here, the Hohe Tanne scores with easy access, a comprehensible description, and a parking situation that explicitly includes two-wheelers. This is comfortable for travel groups, families, and hikers, as one does not have to search for parking spaces in the city first. The combination of country roads, forest edges, and manageable parking situations is typical for excursion gastronomy in the Upper Palatinate and fits well with the image the website portrays of the Hohe Tanne: a place consciously situated between everyday life and nature. So, anyone looking for a quiet stop will not find an anonymous fast-food joint here, but a house with a clear address, understandable access, and a relaxed arrival. Inn, Forest Inn, and Menu: What Hohe Tanne Offers Culinary

Culinarily, the Hohe Tanne Auerbach positions itself as a traditional inn with Franconian, Upper Palatinate, and Bavarian cuisine. Vegetarian and vegan options are also included, which is no longer a minor topic in rural excursion locations. The website also emphasizes that the dishes are prepared personally by the owner. This not only conveys craftsmanship and care but also the character of a house where real cooking still takes place and not just serving. The menu features classic snacks and dishes such as Bauernseufzer, thick sausages, city sausage with music, sausage salad, pressack, cheese platter, ham platter, camembert with toast, curry sausage, schnitzel dishes, vegetable schnitzel, chicken nuggets, and spaetzle with sauce. This is regularly complemented by changing weekly offers and on Sundays by a separate changing menu with soups, roasts, roulades, hocks, Schäuferle, ribs, goose, duck, and vegetarian dishes. This mix makes the Hohe Tanne interesting for search queries around "menu", "inn", "forest inn", and also "prices", as it covers both classic Bavarian plate dishes and uncomplicated snacks. For many guests, this is a clear advantage: one knows that one will not end up in an interchangeable menu here but in a house with a regional profile. The website also mentions homemade cakes and tortes, Küchle, coffee, tea, cappuccino, various ice cream flavors, and ice pops. This is particularly important for afternoon guests who, after a hike or family outing, are not necessarily looking for a main dish but rather coffee and cake. In sum, this creates the image of a down-to-earth yet versatile cuisine that consciously focuses on regional identity, a family atmosphere, and a mix of hearty snacks and sweet afternoon offerings. ([hohetanne-auerbach.de](https://www.hohetanne-auerbach.de/bildergalerie.html))

The dining rooms themselves support this concept. In the tavern and the adjoining side room, up to 100 people can be accommodated. In warm weather, an additional 90 seats are available on the terrace. This is remarkable for an excursion inn and explains why the Hohe Tanne is equally interesting for celebrations, hiking groups, and club meetings. According to the website, the terrace is particularly friendly for large groups and offers a good view of the outdoor area, which is complemented by the playground right next to it. This way, adults can eat or drink coffee in peace while the children are entertained. The selection of drinks is also regionally influenced: there are wines from the area and beers from Kaiser Bräu Veldensteiner. Together with the seasonally changing offer, this creates a cuisine that does not rely on gimmicks but on reliability, local connection, and fresh preparation. For people searching for "hohe tanne auerbach photos", this combination of tavern, terrace, and dishes is often a reason to get an impression beforehand. The Hohe Tanne Auerbach does not present itself as a modern event hall but as a real tavern with a clear culinary signature, generous seating options, and a spectrum ranging from snacks to festive menus. Hotel and Guesthouse: Overnight Stay at Hohe Tanne Auerbach

Those who want to use the Hohe Tanne Auerbach not only for lunch or a Sunday outing can also stay overnight. The house explicitly presents itself as a hotel and guesthouse and offers 4 double rooms and 2 single rooms, spread over the first and second floors. All rooms are non-smoking rooms, and two balconies are available for house guests. Thus, the accommodation is aimed at people looking for a quiet, family-run overnight option and do not necessarily need a large hotel complex. The website also highlights that free internet is available and dinner can be offered upon request, even though this is not included in the price. Breakfast is consciously homemade and regionally influenced: eggs from their own chickens, various homemade jams, honey from their own beekeeping, daily fresh rolls from the baker, a wide selection of drinks, and homemade apple juice are included. These details make the guesthouse interesting for search queries like "hotel hohe tanne auerbach" or "guesthouse hohe tanne auerbach", as they go far beyond a mere sleeping place. The accommodation appears personal, rural, and focused on a warm welcome. The booking logic also fits this: room reservations can be made by phone, by email, and through Booking.com, with the website explicitly preferring direct contact. So, those who prefer to speak personally rather than just clicking online will find a very traditional yet practical approach here. For vacationers, hikers, and families wanting to spend a few days in the Upper Palatinate, this is a comprehensible solution. Particularly attractive is the combination of a quiet location, tavern operation, and breakfast with regional character, as one does not have to drive somewhere in the morning but can start directly in the house. ([hohetanne-auerbach.de](https://www.hohetanne-auerbach.de/hotel_pension.html))

The room amenities also show that the Hohe Tanne Auerbach primarily targets guests who appreciate uncomplicated comfort. There is no overly staged hotel world, but a clear, functional, and family-oriented structure. This can be particularly attractive for people planning a hiking or motorcycle tour, attending a family celebration, or making a stop on a longer journey. The quiet location and the adjacent natural environment create a relaxation effect that is often missing in many classic city hotels. At the same time, the accommodation is not isolated but closely connected with the gastronomy, so that overnight stays, dinner, and breakfast come from one source. This is also valuable for groups, as stays for celebrations or events can be organized in the same house. The reservation page even mentions special requests such as pre-ordered meals, specific seating preferences, a water bowl for pets, or special tableware requests. This flexibility makes the guesthouse interesting for guests with individual needs. So, anyone looking for a small, personally run accommodation with restaurant connection will find in the Hohe Tanne Auerbach a house that not only offers rooms but also a real framework for staying. Hiking, Playground, and Excursions Around Hohe Tanne Auerbach

The surroundings are one of the strongest points of Hohe Tanne Auerbach. The website describes the location as ideal for cycling, hiking, weekend trips, and day excursions. Mentioned are, among others, the Eichkatzelweg through the forests and the old Erzweg between Auerbach and Ranna. Well-marked paths ensure that one can navigate without navigation or a map. This is particularly important for people searching with the keyword "hiking hohe tanne auerbach" or generally looking for a nature-friendly stop. The location is thus not simply next to any route but is part of a whole excursion area. From here, according to the website, several destinations can be reached, such as Gottvaterberg with a view, the Maffei Mining Museum, Rabenfels, Königstein, Neuhaus, and Pottenstein. For those who like stalactite caves or castles, nearby are the Teufelshöhle in Pottenstein, the Maximiliansgrotte in Krottensee, the Binghöhle in Streitberg, Burg Veldenstein, Burg Rabeneck, Burg Hartenstein, and Schloss Greifenstein. Thus, the Hohe Tanne is not just interesting for a short meal but also as a starting point for a whole day plan. The region around Auerbach and the Franconian Switzerland provides exactly what many excursion guests are looking for: nature, movement, views, and a reliable stop at the end or in the middle of the tour. The website also mentions the nearby Hufeisen Wildlife Park, which can be reached by car in about 15 minutes. This creates a clear family connection that complements well with the playground located directly in front of the house. This combination of hiking, animal experiences, play opportunities, and terrace makes the Hohe Tanne Auerbach a location that appeals not only to adults but also to children and groups with different interests. ([hohetanne-auerbach.de](https://www.hohetanne-auerbach.de/umgebung.html))

For families, the playground right outside the door is a real advantage. Parents can sit on the terrace, drink coffee, or eat while the children play in sight. This sounds simple but is a strong argument for a stop with children in practice, as it elegantly solves the classic question of entertainment and relaxation. Motorcyclists and larger groups are also explicitly addressed on the surroundings page: the landscape is beautiful, the terrace offers enough space, and the location is well-suited for tours towards Bayreuth, Weiden, Nuremberg, and Regensburg, as well as for routes through the Franconian Switzerland. This is exactly why the term "forest inn" fits well with the Hohe Tanne. It is not just about food and overnight stays but about a kind of regional anchor point for people who are out and about. Those searching for photos often expect exactly this mix of forest, dining area, outdoor space, and family-friendly atmosphere. The Hohe Tanne provides very clear signals on its website: nature at the door, playground at the house, good accessibility, large terrace, and many excursion possibilities in the immediate vicinity. This makes it a place where one not only plans but actually arrives and stays. ([hohetanne-auerbach.de](https://www.hohetanne-auerbach.de/umgebung.html))

History, Celebrations, and Special Occasions at Hohe Tanne Auerbach

The history of Hohe Tanne Auerbach is remarkably well documented for a guest establishment. According to the website, Hohe Tanne was a steam engine station in 1883 for the cable car that transported ore from the Leonie mine to the Ranna train station. In 1903, it served as a stop along the then steam locomotive route, and from this, the name Hohe Tanne developed. In 1905, the Schertl family's restaurant opened with about four tables. These historical milestones explain why the location is still more than just a simple inn: it stands at a place with industrial and transportation history that has developed into a hospitable excursion site over decades. The current owner and managing director is Elfriede Schertl, together with her children Anna-Lena and Georg Schertl. Thus, the management remains in family hands to this day. For search queries like "reviews" or "photos", this history is not just a nice addition but shapes the perception of the house as a grown, authentic address with character. Those looking for a location with a long tradition will find it here. At the same time, the page shows that tradition does not mean stagnation: Hohe Tanne is now an inn, restaurant, hotel, guesthouse, rest point, meeting place, and event venue at the same time. This mix of history and present makes the house interesting for the Upper Palatinate. ([hohetanne-auerbach.de](https://www.hohetanne-auerbach.de/54.html))

Hohe Tanne is also well-equipped for celebrations and events. The website mentions birthdays, weddings, baptisms, confirmations, memorial services, conferences, Christmas parties, hiking excursions, and other festivities as possible occasions. In the tavern and side room, up to 100 people can be accommodated, and individual menus are gladly arranged according to the website. This is relevant for private and business celebrations alike, as the rooms not only offer enough space but are also flexibly usable. Especially in a family-run house, this personal coordination is often more valuable than a standardized event package. The Hohe Tanne specifically targets people looking for a setting with regional cuisine, clear organization, and a nature-friendly atmosphere. Associations, bus companies, schools, kindergartens, nursing homes, and companies are also mentioned on the homepage, which reinforces the impression of a widely accepted establishment. So, anyone looking for a location for a milestone birthday, a club meal, or a meeting with an excursion character will receive not only rooms but a complete overall concept of catering, accommodation, and surroundings. In this connection lies the special value of Hohe Tanne Auerbach: it is a historically grown place that today provides very practical answers to modern guest wishes.

We came to Hohe Tanne to hide from the fireworks in the city, with our cat. The hotel completely exceeded my expectations! It is so clean, cozy and nice, with very friendly and welcoming staff, clean and well equipped rooms, good breakfast and most importantly, they are in such a peaceful and picturesque location, exactly what we needed and could spend a peaceful night with our furbaby. We will definitely be returning!

Very friendly hosts and a very nice room with a great bed. We slept very well. The house is very quiet in the woods, with a playground right outside the door. Unfortunately, when we stayed there, the restaurant was closed. But the breakfast in the morning was very good. With regional sausages, honey, and homemade jams. We will definitely stop by there again.
