The flatboat is modeled after a flat transport barge that was once used on the Vils for transporting iron and salt. As the water gently flows by the boat, the medieval significance of the Vils as a lifeline of Amberg becomes immediately tangible.
Route between Ship Bridge and Drahthammerwiese
The ride starts at the Ship Bridge in the Amberg old town and moves through the Stadtbrille towards Drahthammerwiese in the former state garden show area. The one-way trip takes about 30 minutes. The round trip is planned for around 60 minutes.
Departures from the Ship Bridge are scheduled for 14:00, 15:00, and 16:00. The ride at 16:00 ends at the Drahthammerwiese and does not offer a return trip to the Ship Bridge. An additional departure from the Drahthammerwiese is possible at 14:30 and 15:30.

The landing stage is not barrier-free. Due to space reasons, strollers, walkers, and wheelchairs cannot be taken on board. As the flatboat does not provide weather protection, weather-appropriate clothing and sun protection during strong sunlight are recommended.
