Baroque Splendor Returns to the Amberg School Church
After seven years, the chamber orchestra Sinfonietta Amberg returns to the concert stage. On October 18, 2026, a program filled with baroque elegance, virtuosic solo parts, and finely tuned ensemble sounds unfolds in the historic school church.
Bach, C. P. E. Bach and Sammartini in Dialogue
The focus is on baroque solo concerts for harpsichord, cello, and flute. Works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, and Giuseppe Sammartini lead through different sound colors between contrapuntal precision, melodic lyricism, and vibrant concert dramaturgy.
The Brandenburg Concerto No. 2 as the Highlight
Johann Sebastian Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 2 promises particular brilliance. The striking solo instruments, the virtuosic orchestration, and the precise synchronization between concertino and tutti make this work a highlight of the baroque concert literature.
Music in an Extraordinary Sacred Space
The Amberg School Church was built at the end of the 17th century as a convent church for the Sisters of St. Anne and received its characteristic Rococo decor in the 18th century. The historic space combines art-historical significance with a special acoustics in which harpsichord, strings, cello, and flute can unfold their fine nuances.
A Reunion with Sinfonietta Amberg
The concert marks the return of a chamber orchestra that derives its musical energy from direct collaboration. The audience's mood thrives on the proximity to the stage, the transparent sound balance, and the interplay of solo presence and orchestral cohesion.
The audience can expect a concentrated concert experience between baroque virtuosity, historic ambience, and lively stage performance. Anyone wishing to experience Sinfonietta Amberg live again after seven years should mark this special concert afternoon in Amberg.
